Bird Watching Andalucia

The province of Andalucia is a bird watching haven and attracts ornithologists from all over the world.  Its situation, a southerly part of Spain with close proximity to Africa means that it is perfect for watching many different species of migrating birds.  The best time of year is spring but there is plenty to see year round.

The different species of birds that populate the region of Andalucia are far too many to mention in this brief synopsis but there are over 13 different species of Raptor, Black Vultures, Imperial Eagles, Golden Eagles and many other birds of prey.  There are many types of water birds throughout the coastal part of the region and flamingos occupy the La Fuente de Piedra and Cabo de Gato.

The Spanish Imperial EagleYou do not have to venture to the coast or even any of the Natural or National Parks to find many of the colourful birds in Andalucia.  The Golden Oriole, Hoopoe and various types of Bee-eater can be found throughout the region and are easy to find in most holiday destinations.
