Ski-ing in Andalucia
Not many people think about Spain when they are thinking about booking their winter
ski-ing holiday. This is because the ski-ing on Europe's most southerly Alps really does not get the recognition that it deserves and is very under-rated. The ski-ing on the Sierra Nevadas is in fact very good, so much so that the 1996 world ski championships were hosted there.
The resort at Sierra Nevada is not one of the biggest in Europe but there are numerous slopes of differing standards that can be enjoyed by beginners and experts alike. The ski-ing season runs from late November until at least early March but the snow can also be supplemented by snow cannons and because of the southerly position of the resort it means that the air temperatures are very good.
The nightlife in the resort is also excellent and the bars are full of Spaniards who like to party long into the night and, with the coast being only just over an hour away, there is the opportunity to sunbathe in the morning and ski in the afternoon.
